COIAC and Meeting Schedule
Review Process
At UCSF, the Conflict of Interest Advisory Committee (COIAC), an academic committee acting under authority from the Chancellor, reviews potential financial conflicts of interest and makes recommendations to the Provost/Executive Vice Chancellor for acceptance, acceptance with conditions, or disapproval of the gift, grant or contract. Such review and recommendation must be completed before the University accepts the funding. The COIAC will notify the faculty member in writing about its findings and actions.
Appeal Process
If a faculty member whose conflict has been reviewed does not agree with the Committee's recommendation and the Chancellor’s decision, then the faculty member may call the COI Manager and request an appeal. At that time, the appeal process will be described to the faculty member. Typically, the appeal process involves an appearance before the Committee by the faculty member to answer questions and to provide additional information to the Committee.
COIAC Meeting Schedule
The COIAC meets on the third Thursday of every month except for December. The due date for submitting all documentation for review is two weeks prior to the meeting date.
